As the founding member of Survivor and co-writer of one of the most inspirational songs in rock history, Jim Peterik easily fits into the category of ‘rock star.’ But a closer look at Peterik’s life and career reveal that he is anything but your typical rock star. Forgoing a life of meaningless sex and drugs, Peterik married his high school sweetheart and focused on the music, becoming one of the most prolific songwriters of his generation.
The Leadfoot Band branches out in all directions, incorporating their love of bluegrass with early urban influences of rock, funk and everything in between, the evolution of the band is hard to place. Fans have said Leadfoot is just hard driving bluegrass, some say they are rock infused jamgrass, or even a bastard child of Bill Monroe meets Metallica. JamGrass.net even says The Leadfoot Band is "A mix between Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros and Greensky Bluegrass."
Formed in early 2015 with a lineup of both esteemed veteran pickers and hotshot newcomers, Growler is bringing a welcome vitality to the growing Chicago bluegrass scene. As dead-on and high-lonesome as these boys are, however, traditional bluegrass is not a final destination for a group like Growler. With influences that span from pulsing Chicago blues to gritty southern rock, from elegant gypsy jazz to old school gospel and soul, and more, the band uses their bluegrass prowess as a jumping-off point for finding a sound that is theirs alone.
TGSB is a group of Chicago musicians who play the music of Old & In The way, and also like to put a bluegrass spin on the music of the Grateful Dead! Anything related is fair game too. Peter Rowan, Tony Rice, David Grisman, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Old & In The Way, etc!
